Be Secure - Feel Secure (BSFS) - Enhancing community trust & well-being in Piraeus

Key findings of the Statistical Analysis and Mapping research by Panteion University

Panteion, via the Laboratory of Urban Criminology (EASTE), conducted a diagnostic research on victimization and safety in the 2nd and 5th Municipal Departments of Piraeus in order to achieve a complete picture of the criminality as well as the dimensions and factors related to the citizens’ fear of crime and insecurity.

The research’s sample consisted of 539 citizens (on household level) and 100 shop owners and employees from both Municipal Departments. The research findings revealed an overall picture of the citizens feeling safe especially in the city center as well as their intention and willingness to cooperate with the Municipality and Police in crime prevention, urban safety and victim’s support policies.

This is an important input for the Local Council for Crime Prevention (LCCP) and the under-establishment Victim Information Unit of the Municipality of Piraeus.

In the following link you can find a brief presentation of the main research findings. The entire research results will be presented in detail at a special event, that will be organized by Panteion University.
