The BSFS project is actively involved in the Europe Direct Piraeus network

The BSFS project actively participates in the Europe Direct Piraeus (EDP) network with the aim of cooperation, knowledge exchange and continuous information on EU matters, especially on topics of the EU Agenda in the field of Urban Security.

The BSFS project as an innovation example in the Europe Direct Piraeus Opening

The BSFS initiative was presented on September the 22nd at the opening of the Europe Direct Piraeus (EDP) at the Municipal Theater of Piraeus.

It was introduced as a “unique” European project for the development of innovative and sustainable urban security solutions as well as for promoting the digital transformation in the city of Piraeus.

BSFS actions with EDPs’ support

The Europe Direct Piraeus supported the BSFS digital action “Minecraft – Cops & Robbers” in Piraeus” – a cyber-physical game for the promotion of CURiMapp – being the main communication sponsor of this event.

In addition, before the year end, an event was co-organized by Europe Direct Piraeus and BSFS in the premises of Βlue/lab (Business Innovation Center for Blue Growth) and was addressed to IT executives of private sector. The BSFS technical manager from Space Hellas Mr. Marios Zacharias, presented the ” Collaborative Urban Risk Management (CURiM)” platform, during an event on “Digital Transformation in the Municipality of Piraeus”.

Mr. Zacharias, also referred to the implementation of the digital game “Cops & Robbers” on the famous Minecraft gaming platform, where the CURiM mobile app was simulated for the first time. The cyber-physical game that took place in parallel on the digital and real streets of Piraeus.

On May 29, 2022, BSFS organized a Treasure Hunt as part of its sports activities in order to promote social cohesion and the CURiM application. The EDP supported the action and together with the BSFS representatives informed the future users of CURiM about the benefits of developing local social networks of information and sharing by using “smart” tools to fight crime and strengthen neighborhood safety.

June 4, 2022 | The head of Europe Direct Piraeus Mr. Panagiotis Kyrimis, in his speech at the “UIA Day” meeting transferred and shared experience from EU cities that elaborate smart tools to tackle urban security issues. Sharing feedback from the European Commission was also of a great importance.

On June 9, 2022, BSFS project partners from the Municipality of Piraeus informed the citizens that visited the 34th Piraeus Book Fair about the CURiM application and the possibilities it provides, especially in terms of developing local social networks of communication and cooperation on issues related to neighborhood safety. EDP supported the information action.

This concrete collaboration continues and aspires to spread news, initiatives and lessons learned in the European context, especially in matters of the EU agenda for urban security.
