March 16-17th, Turin | The Cities Forum 2023 wrapped up, and the Be Secure Feel Secure team is thrilled to have participated in one of the largest events that brought together over 750 representatives from EU cities and EU regions. The two-day event was filled with engaging talks, productive meetings, and exciting discoveries around sustainable urban development policies.
One of the highlights of the Cities Forum 2023 was the New European Bauhaus Manifesto of the City of Torino. The manifesto explores the question of whether beauty can save the world, and proposes a vision for how cities can be designed and developed to be more sustainable, resilient, and beautiful. The Be Secure Feel Secure team found this discussion particularly inspiring, as it resonates with their own work on urban security and safety in the city of Piraeus.
Another exciting development announced at the Cities Forum 2023 was the official launch of the European Urban Initiative. This initiative aims to support cities in building their capacities for sustainable urban development, and provides funding and technical assistance for innovative projects and initiatives.
The Be Secure Feel Secure team was also interested in learning more about how cities can innovate and develop new solutions for sustainable urban development. Many of the talks and discussions at the Cities Forum 2023 focused on this topic, highlighting the importance of collaboration, co-creation, and citizen engagement in driving innovation.
One of the most exciting parts of the Cities Forum 2023 was the site walk at Lungola Dora to discover the intervention areas of the fellow UIA urban security project ToNite. This walk provided a unique opportunity for the Be Secure Feel Secure team to learn from other experts in the field of urban policies and to see firsthand how innovative solutions are being implemented in other cities.
Overall, the Cities Forum 2023 was an excellent opportunity for the Be Secure Feel Secure team to engage in stimulating discussions and to learn from other experts in the field of urban policies. The team left the forum feeling energized and motivated to continue their work on urban security and safety in the city of Piraeus. They are excited to continue collaborating with other cities and regions to develop innovative solutions for sustainable urban development.
